GLYCOLS (PG'S & PEG'S)
and the list goes on and on...
Suprisingly, many organic and natural skin care products contain toxic chemicals! Yes you read that correctly! Just because a product says it is organic or natural does not mean that it doesn't contain harmful preservatives, synthetic fragrance, or other harmful toxic chemicals that have been found to be carcinogenic. Among the worst are, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates, PG's, PEG's, and parabens. One thing I have learned is you can't judge a skin care product by it's pretty packaging, or because of a few key words on the front of the box, such as, natural, organic, made with essential oils, contains botanical extracts. Product packaging can be very misleading. Read...Read...Read your labels! If it sounds like a chemical, it probably is a chemical.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has estimated that the average woman uses between 12-17 personal care products a day. (Teenage girls have been found to use closer to 17). If you think about the amount of personal care products containing toxic chemicals that are being applied to the skin, the amount of those toxic ingredients and their effects can really add up to a dangerous concoction.
So why are these toxic chemicals in our skin care products? Because the US doesn't regulate what goes into our products like they do in the United Kingdom. The FDA says the amount of those ingredients that they consist of is not considered dangerous, and that there is no link between cancer and chemicals in our beauty care products. Yet they have failed to do any long-term studies to back their claims. So what can we do to protect ourselves? First, read your labels, and if you aren't sure about an ingredient, look it up on the EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetic Database. Click here , to get further information.
VST Organics, uses only non-toxic natural and organic ingredients. We care about your health and the environment. Our ingredients conform to EWG's standards of toxicity rated 0 to 2.
As if there isn't enough concerns
about toxicity of cosmetic chemicals. Manufacturers are rushing to incorporate nanotechnology that uses particles 80,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair.
Nanotechnology is touted as the next revolution in cosmetics. However, nanoparticles, being so tiny, have the potential to penetrate unusually deeply into the skin and organs, causing potential physical effects. These particles are tiny enough to cross the placenta, and the blood brain barrier. Will we see an increase in human brain tumors or liver cancer? Is the safety of unborn babies at risk? Right now, no one knows for certain, but studies of nanoparticles injected into laboratory animals tell us it may be more likely than not.
After careful consideration on the safety of nanotechnology used in skin care, we at VST Organics feel it is NOT safe enough to incorporate nanoparticles into our products, especially just in the name of beauty.
This may set us apart from the mainstream, but that is okay with us. We strive to offer natural products made with natural ingredients, just the way nature intended. This is why we spent 5 years researching and developing our product line,to be able to offer exactly that. Products that holistically nourish the skin you're in.
